I just installed my new Autodesk Inventor 2008 commercial version. As luck would have it, the install automatically picked up my old serial number from the student version of 2008 that I had just uninstalled. This is a great feature if you actually want the old version again. For me, not so good. So I started thinking .. How do I change the serial number in Autodesk Inventor 2008 without uninstalling the program. Well, it is really simple and here are the steps.
1. Inside of Inventor, go to Help -About.
Then click on the Product Information button.
2. You can see that the education version is installed. Now next to the serial number is a button called "Update".
3. On the update dialog box is a fyi... so type in the new serial number and hit "ok".
Now you may notice that the serial number doesn't automatically update, so you have to go to the documentation for the operating system...yada, yada. Well, I did that work for you... here are the steps to getting the new serial number to show.. From http://support.microsoft.com/kb/225035/ "....
